Not only did we get to serve a hundred or so people with food, but we got to connect with other youth in the area through this, who came with their youth groups to help serve. It was such a great success that the churches are thinking of serving again sometime, and I'll be excited to bring some more Barn students out to it. It really was an eye opener seeing needy people in the community that we could help.
Then a bit later in the month we had a great chance to invite the community out to the Barn through our first ever, 'Silo Youth Cafe' at the Barn. During this, we had the band Calling Out Closer come out and play for the students. We also got special coffee and opened up the whole Barn for the students to check it out. Basically the night was there to allow students to invite and introduce their friends to the Barn. Then when they have experienced the Barn a bit we would invite them to come back on a normal Thursday night, and hang with us.
This seemed to be such a great outreach! The Band was impressed by the Barn and wants to come back again - which is an awesome encouragement - and we had over 40 people come out for the night, 15 of which were brand new to the Barn. On April 10th we have another band, Ends Illuminate, coming to play at the Barn and a few of our students started a band named Pandemonium to open up for the other band. The hype surrounding the night seems like such a great one right now and I'm excited to see what the LORD does with this chance he has given us to reach the local community for the gospel.
(We also have another one coming up on May 15th which should be awesome).
