The doors opened at 6, but it was only 5:30 and students started barreling their way up to the Barn. The band was still practicing and setting up their equipment, but students were in the back playing pool and goofing off like they normally do. The band left to go eat with 6 students wandering about the Barn, and came back to see over 50 people packing themselves into the Barn, ready for some music. It all kicked off with some of the students who started a band called, 'Pandemonium'. They played a couple of covers and two really well written original songs.
Then when they were finished we showed a video for YWAM ministry that we were giving %20 of our ticket proceeds to. This ministry is called, "Pick-a-Pocket". They raise money so that they can publish a book that promotes awareness about poverty in Kenya, and also so they can turn to this community and help. They use music and art to inspire others to help... (They will possibly be coming to the Barn at the end of May). Ends Illuminate was up next. They played their normal set, and then after taking a short break played a worship set until all the students had to go.
Saturday April 10th, was simply an amazing night! Not because we had 54 people come out, but because the Spirit of God was really at work. We had over 20 new people come out to check out the Barn - including youth workers from two churches in the area, who had never been to the Barn before. Everywhere I went I could just sense God at work. Whether it was students just playing games of cards, talking, listening or raising their hands in worship. I was amazed at how God could work in such awesome ways, and touch our hearts so much when we really needed it.
What inspired me the most that night was the worship set. There were about 20 students left and I remember just standing there raising my hands and worshiping my God like I hadn't in such a long time. That is what the Barn is all about: bringing glory to our God and King, while we lead others before him. Saturday night was an amazing chance to see that all in motion, and I can't wait to continue to live in that motion!
